Whisky is more than just a spirit—it’s a story, a tradition, and a bridge between cultures. At Brindiamo, we have always valued our deep connections to the whiskey industry, from Kentucky’s bourbon heritage to Scotland’s centuries-old Scotch whisky craftsmanship. As our relationships with Scotland continue to grow, we sought a way to symbolize our commitment and the strong ties between these two great whisky regions. The answer? A custom Brindiamo tartan—designed to embody our shared history, values, and passion for the spirit.

The Vision Behind the Brindiamo Tartan

The idea of a Brindiamo tartan was first discussed by our Scotland Partner, David Ferguson, and our team during a trip to Houston. We wanted something that would visually express Brindiamo’s dedication to the whisky world, a design that would be both meaningful and stylish. We partnered with Alan Moore, a renowned tartan designer, to bring this vision to life.

The design process started with selecting a color palette that reflected Brindiamo’s story and the whisky industry as a whole. Bourbon, stored in American white oak barrels, provided the foundation. The contrast of white oak staves bound by dark charred interiors and steel hoops served as inspiration. The warm amber hues of the spirit itself played a significant role in the color selection, ensuring that the heart of our business—the whisky—was well represented.

A Tartan Rich in Symbolism

Every thread of the Brindiamo tartan tells a story:

  • White oak and charred barrels – A nod to the American oak barrels that shape the character of bourbon, the backbone of Brindiamo’s whiskey expertise.

  • Golden amber hues – Capturing the rich, caramel-colored tones of aged bourbon and Scotch whisky.

  • Deep green and golden orange (Emerald Saffron) – A tribute to our business connections in Cork, Ireland, weaving together the influence of Irish whiskey into our global portfolio.

  • Strong horizontal lines – Inspired by rows of stacked barrels in warehouses, a visual representation of cask ownership and management, which is at the heart of what we do.

The result is a tartan that is both contemporary and rooted in tradition, a perfect reflection of Brindiamo’s modern approach to the whisk(e)y industry while respecting the rich legacies of Scotland, Ireland, and Kentucky.

A Tartan with a Global Debut

After careful refinement, the Brindiamo tartan was initially woven by independent weaver Johnny MacKinnon in Glasgow. The handwoven fabric made its first appearance at the prestigious World Whisky Awards of Scotland in Edinburgh, marking the beginning of its journey into the whisky world. Officially registered with the Scottish Tartan Authority, the Brindiamo tartan is now a permanent part of whisky culture, a symbol of our dedication to the industry and its traditions.

Looking Ahead: The Future of the Brindiamo Tartan

As we move into 2025, we are excited about the many possibilities the Brindiamo tartan offers. From bespoke apparel and accessories to exclusive collaborations within the whisky world, this tartan is more than just a fabric—it’s a statement. It represents the friendships, partnerships, and passion that drive Brindiamo forward.

Whether in the whisky warehouses of Kentucky, the historic distilleries of Scotland, or the growing markets in Ireland, the Brindiamo tartan will serve as a proud emblem of our journey. We look forward to weaving it further into our story—one thread at a time.
